National television does not meet Cuban society’s demand for entertainment. Nor are there many other official alternatives -especially in small towns- for cinematic solace. The lack of options gave rise to a network of private banks to rent films, behind the government’s back. In these small illegal businesses, a new advertising image is created for each film (which does not necessarily coincide with the one that was officially launched). The video records the process of building this new image and the premises that govern it.
